Salute

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ!

Our civil association, called The Christian Circle of Intellectuals has been founded in order to offer support and bring closer together the Hungarian intellectuals from the Christian communities in the region of Vojvodina, Serbia.

We would like to have a fuller and spiritually richer life, with deeper understanding and better acquirement of the everyday Christian practices.

We are doing everything within our power to ensure the evangelistic devotion towards the profane. This assumed task is our duty and our right. Nothing accounts for indifference.

Our main goal is to offer new opportunities for the Hungarian intellectuals living in Vojvodina in order to facilitate their self-construction and enrich their own universe.

The members of our association have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about Christianity during our lectures, seminars and other programs. They also have a chance to mutually experience Christian values.

It is very important to form close connections between Hungarian intellectuals living in different parts of Vojvodina. There are clergymen, as well as worldly-laics between the members of our Association. With joint efforts we are trying to practice our religious beliefs in our everyday life. Pope Pius XII. phrased that Christ followers must realize they do not only belong to the Church, they are the Church; and that through them this is the prime mover of  human society.

Pope John Paul II. details in his apostolic incentive named Christifideles laici that the members of the church should not seek to distance themselves from political and public life.

Nothing justifies having a neutral attitude, because unfortunately we can frequently experience that our culture is distancing itself from Christian values, as well as every other human value.

The Christian Circle of Intellectuals’ mission is to mold people into persons with strong Christian morals. Society automatically benefits by the improvement of a person, including ourselves. At the same time we will be able to get to know what common good consists of. Egotistical societies cannot recognize this. The standard for the common good cannot be personified by a politician, or by any political trends. The common good is the epitome of human rights.

Convergent political activity’s fruitful result is peace, yearned by everyone, but that is still verdant. Worldly-laics cannot be neutral towards anything that endangers world peace, such as: war, violence, torture, concentration camps, militarization of politics and arming.

Contrary to this, we live at peace with God (Romans 5:1) as disciples of Jesus Christ our Lord- who is the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6) -, and precisely because of this we have to be peacemakers for “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9).  The basic elements of peace are: justice, freedom, kindness and love. Together they form the indispensable basics of peace.

Believers must cooperate with those who are honestly trying to create and maintain peace. They must use every tool that comes into hand, such as different communities, national and international organizations. We must facilitate all educative efforts, because our main goal is to eradicate selfishness, rancor, vengeance and hostility towards each other from its roots; and we must support by all means the cultural growth of solidarity. This solidarity is the key towards a mutually peaceful and advanced road.

By representing this point of view, the Synod Fathers called on Christians to reject all forms of violence, facilitate all manifestations of peace and dialogue, and work in order to achieve the right to an international and social order.

Therefore our members can be all those Christian intellectuals who accept our associations Statute, and would like to accomplish more for our society’s welfare with the propagation of our Christian values.

Our Association mainly unfolds its activity in Hungarian language.

You can also be our collaborator and supporter!
